Becoming more conscious can be one of the most rewarding things you ever do in your life. Suddenly, everything seems so much more real. You break out of your humdrum, daily experience, and sense life in a completely different way.
Expanding your consciousness might sound like a bit of a woo-woo idea – and it is. But the people who achieve it swear by it. The best way to think about it is to try to remember what it felt like to live as a young child before the pressures of the world started weighing you down. You had a sense of lightness and freedom. And you weren’t so obsessed with things like money, sex, and wellbeing itself. Instead, you went through life with a different kind of approach. It’s only growing up that changed that.
So how do you get back to something similar now you’re an adult? Here are some tips to get you started.
Recognize The Truth
Recognizing the truth about your existence is one of the best ways to become more conscious. You’re not a stranger in the universe, plopped here from another dimension, like some sort of alien. Instead, you’re a part of the whole show. You didn’t “come into” the world, you “came out of it.”
Changing your perspective in this way helps you see an important truth: there’s no fundamental distinction between you and the rest of the universe. You are one and the same ongoing process.
Be Compassionate
When you focus exclusively on yourself, it’s hard to be compassionate. You’re thinking so intently about your own emotions that you don’t have time to think about those of anyone else.
But the more you let yourself go, the more you find that you’re able to see the needs of others around you. The rest of the world becomes more real to you.
Temper Desire
Most people go through their lives in a constant state of desiring what they do not have. And it is extremely destructive. The fact that they don’t have the relationship that they want, or money, or friends, takes its toll and causes suffering.
Tempering desire, therefore, is one of the most powerful things you can do to become more conscious. Again, you’re no longer focusing on what you lack and, instead, retraining your mind to concentrate on what you have.
Raise Your Energy
The idea of “raising your energy” doesn’t sound very scientific – and it’s not. But that doesn’t mean that the concept isn’t valid. We all know the difference between people vibrating in a happy way compared to those who are sad.
You can raise your energy in all kinds of ways. Some people use the hemp flower. Others practice yoga. For some, volunteering is what transforms their experience.
Whatever it is, make sure that you have something in your life that constantly reminds you that you’re alive.
Operate With Intention
Finally, raising consciousness isn’t something you can force. Instead, it happens when you let go. Just by intending to raise your consciousness, you can elevate it.
