If you’ve been interested in finding a children’s book about foster care, you’ve hit the jackpot!
I recently had the honor of reading a book co-authored by a good friend of mine about a child who was being prepared to enter the foster care system. This story touched my heart deeply, not only because it was well written but also because of my own experiences as a child. Those who are foster parents are extremely special people and deserve much more recognition and appreciation for the love and care given to children who cannot care for themselves. The inspiration for this book was the biological mother of one of the authors. She and her family shared their home and their hearts with more than 120 children over the years. When his mother was asked, “Why do you do it?” her reply was always, “If we don’t love them, someone else may not.”
A Match Made in Heaven tells the story of Ricky, a boy who is in heaven and being prepared by his foster angel, Angel Ray so that he can choose his own foster parents. Ricky is anxious to have his turn and Angel Ray is a bit nervous that Ricky may not have learned all that is needed just yet. When the time comes for Ricky to leave and begin his journey, Angel Ray assures him that she is ok with him starting his life and that she will always be watching over him. He then leaves her to meet his family and experiences instant joy and love from his foster mother, Linnie Ray.
