It’s hard to beat the excitement of Christmas Day. You get up early, gifts are exchanged, excitement is shared, and then… not a lot. Here are a few options to continue the merriment in the long wait until lunch.
#1 – Go for a walk
Obviously, someone needs to stay and keep an eye on the food that is being cooked, but a nice walk is the perfect way to build an appetite and get some fresh air. It’s also a perfect chance for your kids to play with any outdoors toys that they received.
#2 – Talk to overseas relatives on Skype
Provided the timezones match up, this can be a lovely way of making your Christmas Day even more special. Use a camera that gets everyone in the frame and have a good chat, swapping Christmas cheer across the miles.
#3 – Watch an interactive YouTube video
If your kids are still a little hyped up and overexcited, one of the many YouTube videos aimed at kids is a great way to while away a few hours. Opt for videos that encourage physical activity and interaction; there’s plenty to choose from so you’re bound to find something everyone likes.
#4 – Watch a movie
If you have the space, watching a movie is a great decision. It takes a couple of hours, giving you space and freedom in the kitchen, and is plenty absorbing. Of course, it goes without saying that you should opt for a Christmas movie; the below movie is a concept, but it’d be a pretty neat way to spend some time on Christmas Day if it did exist!
