One of the great things about getting older is that you will gain a new sense of confidence. You may feel like you are able to handle new situations much better and that you are also able to be more resilient. The problem is that your skin and your body shape will change as you age, and sometimes you may feel as though this hinders all of the new-found confidence you have gained. If you want to help yourself though, then there are a couple of things that you can do.
Stop Comparing
We live in a very image-driven society. It can be hard for you not to compare yourself to the “ideal” image that you see on social media. You may even find that you have unrealistic expectations as well. The key to combating this would be for you to stop comparing yourself altogether. When you find yourself thinking how bad you look, think, would you say that to a friend? Probably not, so you shouldn’t say it to yourself.
Reward Yourself
When was the last time you treated yourself to a spa break or even a massage? It’s very easy for you to build a pampering ritual if you take small steps every day. When you do this, you will soon find that it is much easier for you to reconnect with your body and that you can also spoil yourself too. This will give you an instant level of confidence. Of course, it’s important to know that as you get older, your skin will get drier and therefore needs a much higher level of nourishment.
If you are not happy with your skin, then see if there is a procedure that can help you to change that. Sclerotherapy is very popular, so look up how long it takes to recover from sclerotherapy and find out if it’s something you’d like to push forward with.
Shift your Focus
Don’t look at your body in terms of appearance. Instead, think about what it can do. You probably have some talents and strengths, and you might have even gotten through some tough times as well. The stretch marks that you have from your pregnancy are something to be proud of, as you are raising some great kids who love you dearly. This is just one example, but it’s very easy to see that when you shift your perspective, you can easily help yourself to become more in touch with your body.
Get some New Clothes
If you can’t afford to go out and get some new clothes then this is understandable, so try and change the clothes that you have right now. If you wear clothes that actually fit you then you will look better and you’ll feel better too. Don’t be afraid to experiment with brighter colors either, sure, they might be bold but sometimes you might be as well, so embrace them. When you do, you will soon find that you are able to feel much better about your image in general.
