Not everyone loves to Instagram makeup vibes. Many just want to be Snatural (snatched and natural). This means you won’t need hundreds of makeup products, you probably will need about 6-10, 20 minutes and some practice.
The trick to looking like you aren’t wearing any makeup is always going to be a light-touch, a lot of blending and really knowing what works for you and your skin tone.
Step 1 – Prep
If your skin is dry, flaky, red or just a bit grey, then you need to do a few things. 1 – drink more water and 2 – get some excellent moisturizer. If you aren’t going to be covering your skin in full coverage foundation, then you need to take care of your skin. Exfoliation is another thing you should be doing. You can do this with a gentle exfoliation sponge rather than harsh chemicals though. After all of that – a blurring or pore minimizing primer is going to be your starting point. SPF will be in the mix here too.
Step 2 – Base
Now you are prepped and primed it is time to buff some color onto the skin. You can opt for a light coverage foundation, BB or CC cream. A tinted moisturizer is also a great option. Use dabbing and tapping motions with a beauty blender or a brush to really work it into the skin. Apply your concealer after that and then contour. If you aren’t great at contour, then check out AVON for tips.
Step 3 – Blush
Once you have a smooth base, it is time to add a little color to your cheeks. A pinky shade will suit most skin tones, it will give you a natural flush in your cheeks that is associated with a healthy glow.
Step 4 – Eyes
You can depend on your eye sockets with a shade a tone or two darker than your natural lid shade, and lighten to corners with a pale shimmer. Adding brown mascara will give you a definition without the heaviness of black. But if you want some drama, a black mascara with a lengthening or ‘drama’ in the name will be perfect.
Step 5 – Brows
You don’t have to get handy with a brow pencil is that feels a bit too much to you, a clear brow gel will give you shape and neatness – and the eyebrows can change your whole face shape too. Of course, a light taupe will give you more definition if you are looking for that. You can find some great eyebrow guides online that will walk you through it.
Step 6 – Lips
The best lip color is your own. So find a shade or balm or lipstick that is the same color as your lips and dab it one. You can, of course, go for a full slick of color if you want, but a light dab or a clear gloss will finish your natural makeup look with ease.
When it comes to natural, less is more, and once you have your routine down, it will take minutes to achieve.
