Work parties are always fun. It’s a great chance to get to know your colleagues further in a relaxed environment but keeping safe and be aware of key things like keeping your drinks safe from being tampered with can make your night stress-free.
Outfit choices
For some, taking pride in choosing the right outfit to wear to the upcoming work party makes you feel confident. Even though some of the outfit choices that we make us feel fabulous, sadly it can encourage people to touch you in places that you don’t want it. Places like CLIA certified laboratories can assist you can help get you tested if and when the worse happens. Maybe it’s a short dress or a top that comes lower down, can be factors like this that can result in encouraging inappropriate behavior.
Eating with allergies
Of course, every work party isn’t complete without a heap of food and drink but just be cautious of anyone who has an allergy especially if it’s a buffet. There are little things that we don’t even notice that could affect them. For example; any cutlery that has been left out could have fingerprints from someone before or if anyone coughs nearby it could contaminate it causing someone to come out in a rash. If you are sharing drinks between a couple of friends, then letting them take the first sip before yourself can help resolve this too. It’s good to carry your medication with you and making your colleagues aware of where it is kept so they can use it if necessary.
Buddy up
Having a night out with your work colleagues can end up very eventful but ensuring that you have a colleague or friend with you at all times can limit the chances of something happening to you as you’re walking down a dark, empty street as it can sometimes be dangerous. A group of four is the safest option as if one of you gets hurt, two of you can get help whilst the other stays with the injured.
Drinks
Even though having drinks is a great addition to your night, watch out for people spiking your drinks as this can have damaging effects. Asking for your drink to be in a bottle rather than a glass can make it easier for you to cover the top with your thumb rather than leaving an open glass around so that it can’t be tampered with.
Safety
There are many ways you can keep safe when you are out and about at night but it can be as simple as turning on your GPS on your phone whilst linking it to an application on your phone so that if you are in an emergency, your friends and family are able to see where you are and contact you. Another option is having an alarm on you that you can hang on your handbag so that you can alert everyone around you, it’s an old method that has been around for years yet very effective.
