EYE HEALTH
What color is the sky? What about the grass? Do you think the ocean is blue? Or is it clear, simply reflecting the sky? The answer is that none of them have any color at all. In reality, atoms are colorless. Frequencies of light bounce through the atoms and create the illusion of color.
But that still doesn’t make the color. You need something to observe color with and for this, we have cones in our eyes. The purpose of these cones is to turn the light illusion of our environment into color; that’s how complex simply color is and one of the main reasons we should look after our eye health.
EAR HEALTH
When was the last time you considered the amazing work that your ears do? Mostly we don’t even think about our hearing unless there is an issue with it that affects our everyday life. The ears are also amazing little machines that need to be carefully maintained for hearing loss prevention.
Your ears take in sound waves from the environment. These sound waves vibrate on the eardrum and are enhanced by little bones called ossicles. The sound waves are then sent to the inner ear where they enter the cochlea and are transformed into electrical signals for the brain.
DENTAL HEALTH
Like most animals humans have a set of teeth that have evolved for chewing, tearing, and biting. They are made of bone – specifically enamel and dentine – and need to be properly maintained to prevent decay and toothache that can lead to health issues.
Dental health is so important for animals that some will even lose their lives if they have broken teeth or decayed teeth. The issue is not quite as severe in humans; still, problems with your teeth can have a significant bearing on your overall well-being.
JOINT HEALTH
If you think that the health of your joints isn’t something you need to worry about until you’re older, think again. Joint issues may only present in later life but they are an accumulation of habits and behaviors you display over many years.
Don’t allow your joint to deteriorate and your skeleton to fall into disrepair. A properly maintained skeleton will last for many years and much longer than you might expect when properly looked after. Take up a regular yoga practice and visit a chiropractor from time to time.
MUSCLE HEALTH
Think of muscles as the original algorithms, intelligent machines capable of leaving from their environment and responding without your knowledge but in your best interests. That’s basically how muscles work. If you use them they become stronger, if you don’t they start to atrophy.
Modern humans are the result of millions of years of evolution. In that time our muscles have evolved to be used for heavy lifting and strenuous activity on a daily basis. If you live according to this premise your body will respond positively you will feel stronger, healthier, and have more energy as a result.
