Tanteo Tequila, the only distillery owned by its co-op of agave farmers, is currently hosting a virtual bartending competition featuring tiger nuts as the secret ingredient– have you tried them?
Entries from eight of the country’s top bartenders can be found HERE with voting and virtual tip jars open to the public. Tanteo will announce the winner on IG on Day of the Dead, 11/2 at 12pm EST.
Each participating bartender for this Virtual Mexican Standoff has been compensated with a $250 shift pay, while the winning bartender will receive an additional shift pay and a trip to Mexico (once safe) for the Championship.

TANTEO TEQUILA LA MARGARITA DEL MUERTO
- 1 ½ oz. Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila
- 1/2 oz. Agave Nectar
- 1/2 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 2 ½ oz. Pear Puree
Method: Add all the ingredients in a shaker. Shake well and pour into a Tanteo Jalapeno Salt rimmed, ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a fresh rosemary stem.
TANTEO TEQUILA LA OFRENDA MARGARITA
- 2 oz. Tanteo Chipotle Tequila
- 1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1/2 oz. Light Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
- 1 Bar Spoon of Fig Preserves
Method: Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a fresh fig.
TANTEO TEQUILA MARIGOLD MARGARITA
- 2 oz. Tanteo Chipotle Tequila
- 1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
- 3/4 oz. Light Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
- 1 oz. Pumpkin Purée
Method: Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a hollowed mini-pumpkin. Garnish with freshly ground nutmeg and cinnamon.
